I have seen flocks approaching 1000 on Lake Tinaroo, 145* 30' E. 17* 16' S.
and well over 1 500 at Mer, 144* E. 10* S. The first is fresh water while
the second locality is marine. The sound of the birds flying over eachother
to fish the leading edge was like distant rolling thunder.
