This a really a very silly query, but it has been bugging me for ages.

Until about 6 years ago we lived in North Ryde, about 15 km due west of
Sydney CBD. I often heard, from my back yard, the call of what I thought
a dove of some type, but at that time I was busy with other things, not
'into' birds, and really did not pay much attention.

Now here is the silly bit. There is an old-ish (say, 1920's to 1930's) song
'The Cuckoo Waltz', the lyric of which goes "I'm cuckoo, and you're cuckoo,
so let's take a chance and do a new dance... " etc. The tune was used as
the theme for the Laurel and Hardy television series that showed their old
movies. Now the first three notes of that tune were EXACTLY the call of
this bird that I cannot now identify - Coo cuck oo. Does anyone know what
bird that would be?

As I say - a silly question. Any takers to ease my worried mind?
