Sightings

20 August
Freckled Duck, up to 100 reported at Lake Guyatt in Sale, Duncan counted 70
this morning. Thanks Duncan Fraser.

17 August
An Australasian Bittern sighted at the Borrow Pits, Western Treatment Plant.

17 August
There are a pair of Brolgas nesting in the Birregurra swamp, on the Princes
Highway about 14 Km east of Colac. Thanks Ian Davies.

15 August
While travelling along the Yanak-Nhill Rd, near Hardys Swamp Reserve in
north-west Victoria, Janene Luff saw a Letter-winged Kite.  Thanks Alan
Morris.

15 August
Highlights of a Port Fairy Pelagic trip include a Common Diving-petrel, 5
Grey-backed Storm-Petrels and 2 Hutton's Shearwaters.  Thanks Rohan Clarke.

15 August
An Australasian Bittern flushed from reeds at the end of Moolap Station Rd,
Reedy Lake.  Thanks Peter Fuller.

13 August
At Truganina (outer western Melbourne) - 2 Red-chested Button-quail and 1
Plains-wanderer in native grassland on private property.  Danny Rogers also
saw a Little Button-quail on the same day near Long Forest (just west of).

Mid August
For 2 weeks now a Pied Currawong have been going up and down St Kilda Rd.
Between Comercial road and High St. Thanks Alex Farias.

12 August
There was a Powerful Owl (with obligatory ringtail in its talons) in a
wattle at Wilson Reserve, Ivanhoe. It was in a tree over the bike track
running alongside the Yarra. Thanks Michael Mules.

12 August
Two Brolgas sighted in the small lagoons north west of the Point Wilson
access road near the Defence Dept gate. Thanks David Brighton.

11 August
One adult male Orange-bellied Parrot seen on the track (for quite a long
time) at the Spit, the bird had a red ring on the left leg. Thanks Dave
Torr, Grant Brosie, Nick Livanos.

10 August
The highlight of the monthly Edithvale Wetlands Survey was 8 Australasian
Bitterns (2 south side, 6 north).  Thanks Mike Carter.

10 August
A Black Kite over the Ararat-Willaura road, a few km south of Ararat.
