I suppose it has not been described yet??

It would then be 8 points in the Expedition Birding score system (see
http://www.birding-peru.com/forums/expeditionbirding/ . After
description 7 points for five years. Obviously, such a quest by a number
of birders would help the locals to see the importance of conserving it
and its habitat. Some locals will be employed by birders as local guides
to find the bird, some will provide food and lodging. In the best cases
the local community are well enough organized to charge the visitors a
fee for collecting money for some sustainable community project - maybe
even to invest in eco accommodation for visiting birders. A national
Birdwatching entrepreneur and Birdwatching business can extend taking
visitors also to other threatened birds which can get similar effects.

For those interested in this concept I am holding two lectures at the
British BirdFair and the Dutch Birdfair, the coming weekend and weekend
after that, on Expedition Birding and how Birdwatching companies can
actively bring initiative to conservation of birds through helping
organizing the local communities to charge a fee for visits.

The slots are the following:

Rutland Bird Fair:

Friday Aug 20 9:30-9:50 "Conservation of threatened birds in Peru
through responsible avitourism off the beaten track"

Sunday Aug 22 11.30-11.50 "Expedition Birding" This interesting concept
that promotes birders to actively seek out threatened and endemic
species and in this way they will be directed to the area where their
presence will be most important.

Dutch BirdFair:
Saturday: Aug 28 12:30-12:50. "Conservation of threatened birds in Peru
through responsible avitourism off the beaten track"
Sunday: Aug 29 12:30-12:50 "Expedition Birding"

Saludos

Gunnar

PS: I may also mention that there is now a data base for the Birds of
