Hi Tom,
I have been told that they have already built nest mounds in gardens
at Bayview, in northern coastal Sydney.

Re: [BIRDING-AUS] Surprise sightng in TurramurraPer Andy Burton's reply to
my message of seeing a Brush Turkey this morning, esp the following extract:
"Brush-turkeys are now regularly sighted in Sydney's northern suburbs and my
prediction is that they will become a common garden bird in the area (dogs
willing). This is from a virtually zero base only a few years ago."
leads to a warning to Sydney's birdwatching gardeners - if you have a
compost heap or mulched garden and a resident brush turkey, please be ready
for the rest of your garden to end up in the same place! I recall reading a
warning/notice to this effect somewhere in SE Queensland (Noosa I think?) in
1993. Having seen them "at work" in various locations, it wouldn't take
long either!
Cheers
Tom
