I just received an email stating that there was only 280 GBC left in Australia and to click onto the AMP website to register $1 for Greening Australia to revegetate Kangaroo Island ( in short).

I have a number of problems with the blurb provided ( see below)

AMP Foundation will donate up to $10,000 to this project, so tell your friends and encourage them to visit this site.

Greening Australia’s Glossy Black-Cockatoo project is a habitat restoration project. The Glossy Black-Cockatoo is only found on Kangaroo Island in South Australia and there are only approximately 280 of these critically endangered birds left.

The project works with local community and youth to re-establish vegetation
in areas of Kangaroo Island and the Fleurieu Peninsula.

It's a pity that they don't get their facts straight first.  To that extent, is there a reasonable estimate of how many there are across Australia?????
