This should certainly be grounds to
revoke the grants given, plus additional fines dedicated to the restoration
of the destruction they have caused.

If you consider the government, environmental
and public outlay expended to provide protection for native wildlife, a
substantial fine should be applied and its licence revoked. 

The organistion also has breaches of
fair competition laws for fixed pricing. see the below link:

This is a very significant number of birds and I find it a disgraceful
slap
on the wrist for such a callous and ignorant action. The labourer should
be
in the lock-up along with the person who instructed him to do so. Chris
and
Tina Phillips (the owners) should surely receive large financial penalties
which render such actions unprofitable - money being the only thing that
these blind fools understand.

This Cairns-based company trades as Barramundi Waters and in August 2003
received a grant of $45,650 from the Qld Government. Mr Barton, Minister
for
State Development, approved the grant under the Department of State
Development’s Queensland Industry Development Scheme (QIDS).

Barton quotes:

“Barramundi Waters is the largest producer of Barramundi in Queensland”;

“The Queensland Government recognises the potential of the aquaculture
industry and will continue to support sustainable and environmentally
sensitive projects like Barramundi Waters.".

For discerning shoppers, Barramundi Waters products are sold in supermarkets
as "King Reef Barramundi".

I'll certainly be writing to the Mr Barton requesting an explanation for
why
so little research is conducted before handing out this sort of money to
such irresponsible and greedy vandals.

Outrageous. :-(
