Wandering along the beach at Jervis Bay (NSW south coast) I came across a number of large primary feathers. I assume they are from an Australian Gannet, a common and relatively abundant seabird in the area. I consulted HANZAB (Vol 1 Part B p 762) to ascertain information about Gannet primaries but all I was able to find was that Gannets have, ‘11 primaries: p9 longest, p10 0-6mm shorter…’. Have I missed something in the text? If not is anyone able to provide me with data about the lengths of Gannet primaries. Many thanks Alastair |
