Just noting that I saw a Horsfields Bronze Cuckoo on the east bank of the Nepean River below the weir at Penrith yesterday 3/6/04 about 11am. There are abundant hosts in this area such as Superb Fairy Wrens and Little Thornbills. Also up to six species of finch (zebra, double-bar, chestnut mannikin, red-browed, goldfinch, nutmeg mannikin). Have also noted plenty of Fantailed cuckoos from here to Mulgoa over the last three weeks.

For those who have been following the Koel thread I heard one here yesterday at about 9:30am, called twice. (!)

For those who followed the thread about Ospreys in fresh water, this is the same area that I referred to that I have seen, and continue to see, an Osprey (last seen 28/5/2004).

Cheers all,

Steve Brooking
