Last Sunday (1/2/04), while walking along Winnbirra Pde, Ashwood, (Vic) I heard Bell Miners calling from Gardiners Creek, just behind Ashwood Reserve. A resident told me they moved in about 5 months ago. As I only visit infrequently I wondered if anyone knows the history of this species in the area. Have they only moved in since the eucalypts planted along the bike path have reached a certain height? Were there ever any big eucalypts along the creek?
