Hi All,
Yesterday my wife and I were sitting on theWest
Rosebud (3940) foreshore with friends. The habitat is Pinus
Radiata,very knarled and old. Not good timber. A flock of Rainbow Lorikeets flew
in and started biting off the old pine cones and then chewing into the
nuts(sorry I didn't have my bins as it was social). I was surprised at such
behavior and my friend a camper said they had been around for some days. I've
always thought that only YTBC and the like had the strength to chew pine cones.
Have I been misled. Come to think of it I have from time to time seen chopped up
cones under pine trees but never have I put this down to RBLK's.
