Hi Jack,
Just adding to what Michael said in the last par - I saw about 10 - 15
White-fronted Terns (WFTE) in full breeding plumage in Caloundra (SEQ) in
January a few years ago. They were there for just a few days, and it was so
outside the realms of probability that I didn't broadcast it very widely at
the time. However, I have no doubt about the accuracy of my identification,
and so strange things CAN happen.
I would think it more likely to find WFTE in breeding plumage at this time
of year, rather than non-breeding. However, I am no expert on the duration
of their immature plumage.
