I am at present trying to assist a local NGO in Mauritius to work out a pigeon reduction strategy. We have been asked to work out a total population for the island (which has 1.2 million human inhabitants) and heaps of pigeon food around. Is anyone out there aware of any methodology which can be/has been used to estimate total populations across a diverse area? If you can help to steer me in the right direction, please email me direct as I am not subscribed at present.
