The Royal Forest and Bird
Protection Society of NZ have recently launched an online petition on their
website. The aim of this petition
is to eliminate the illegal Pirate fisheries that currently exist, and threaten
not only seabirds and other marine wildlife, but the fisheries themselves.
This petition has been born from the John Ridgway Save the
Albatross Voyage and the BirdLife International 'Save
the Albatross' Campaign. It is supported by BirdLife
International and partner groups in over 100 countries, Greenpeace and the
British Antarctic Survey. John Ridgway and representatives of conservation
organisations will present the petition to the United Nations Food and
Agriculture Organisation in June 2004.

just your name, city, country and email address to be completed. These illegal fisheries are of dire
concern, so please take a few moments to visit the site and ‘sign’
