Isn't birding cruel. I just read Nicholas Talbot's report on Cheynes Beach, ticked all 3 with ease. I was there the week before, spent the morning around the caravan park and up the road by poles 102 - 106 and only heard a Whipbird way in the distance once. Then I went to Waychinicup NP for the afternoon and heard nothing. So I then spent 3 full mornings at Little Beach and only heard Bristlebirds 3 times but no sightings. Weather was poor, howling winds and rain and timed the stay coinciding with a long weekend and the start of the school holidays so had to keep moving to available accommodation. We stayed at Armidale, close to relations, near Bungendore Park/Wungong Gorge, saw 3 species of Black-Cockatoo, got bombed by the same Magpie. Near the railway station Corellas came into roost in the evening, 20 - 30 Western, 10 + of 2 races of Little and 6 Long-billed. Missed the Shrike-tit and Fieldwren so looks like another trip in the future.
Cheers Chris
