Birding Aus <>

Isn't birding cruel. I just read Nicholas Talbot's report on Cheynes
Beach, ticked all 3 with ease.
I was there the week before, spent the morning around the caravan park
and up the road by poles 102 - 106 and only heard a Whipbird way in the
distance once. Then I went to Waychinicup NP for the afternoon and
So I then spent 3 full mornings at Little Beach and only heard
Bristlebirds 3 times but no sightings.
Weather was poor, howling winds and rain and timed the stay coinciding
with a long weekend and the start of the school holidays so had to keep
moving to available accommodation.
We stayed at Armidale, close to relations, near Bungendore Park/Wungong
Gorge, saw 3 species of Black-Cockatoo, got bombed by the same Magpie.
Near the railway station Corellas came into roost in the evening, 20 -
30 Western, 10 + of 2 races of Little and 6 Long-billed.
Missed the Shrike-tit and Fieldwren so looks like another trip in the
