Do you know if there are any consultants advising on
pollution by night time lighting, please ?
Prof. Gerhard Eisenbeis of Johannes Gutenberg University,
Mainz, Germany was one of the speakers at the urban ecology
forum in July. He has convincing evidence that lamps affect
insect populations and showed alarming trends in the
diversity and numbers of insects. With implications for
vegetation and other fauna including birds.
I am trying to deal with an individual case where there may
be new building to the edge of an important heathland but
the big issue is the cumulative impact of lighting.
Eisenbeis showed new lamp designs aimed at avoiding waste of
energy and focusing the light where it is needed.
