G'day all

I went looking for the Arctic Tern in Portland harbour (sw Victoria) on Saturday. This was first seen by Rob Farnes last weekend. The constant gales of the last week had finally abated and I guess the bird had gone back out to sea. A nice consolation prize was a pair of White-fronted Terns (non-breeding plumage) roosting with a few Crested Terns. I took a few digiscope pics but my best was not quite sharp enough. More practice needed. Lovely birds - my first Victorian sighting.

Cheers
