Hi all, Sunday 14 Sept I observed a single Arctic Tern in breeding plumage in Portland harbour no doubt the result of the rough weather we have been experiencing. This is the second record I have for Portland harbour of a bird in breeding plumage. The bird was very close just off the Lee Breakwater, flying up and down feeding. Basic description:- Red bill, black cap, upper wings and mantle grey contrasting with white upper tail and rump, underparts light grey, black trailing edge to the wings.
