It is interesting how Channel-billed Cuckoos are being heard around Sydney.  I have not heard or seen any around Brisbane despite being out extensively over the past couple of weeks.  However our Sacred Kingfishers are back here at suburban Nundah just 6 km north of the city (Brisbane) centre.  Some Sacred KFs stay around all year in this area but the great majority of them head north to warmer climates during winter.

On a different note, I have just returned from filming a segment with Channel 7's "The Great South-East" promoting bird watching and good areas to see birds around Brisbane.  Let's hope that it gets more people out there enjoying our wonderful birds and involved in conserving their habitats !!

Cheers
