Hi Stuart,
While significant records from this
list are sent to 'The Atlas' etc Brian and I thought you may appreciate
this info. from the Merri Creek Management Committees 'Fauna Book" in which
staff record their sightings. We felt it is a valuable way to share the
information.
Would you be interested in records from previous months?
They do see things apart from YTBCs!!

1/8/03 - 3 YTBC feeding in old wattles across creek
from CERES (Blyth St, E Brunswick). They hung around most of the day before
heading downstream. Possibly juveniles (Deb Lawson)
3/8/03 - 4 YTB Cockatoos opposite Wales Quarry
Lookout, Merri Park, amongst Acacias and Eucalypts (Brian
Bainbridge)
4/8/03 - at least 3 YTBC flying downstream. Then perched
in trees in Merri Park, possibly on the island (Brian Bainbridge)
15/8/03 - 3 YTBC flying south over Tate Reserve, Preston

18/8/03 - 1 Little Eagle being harassed by magpie, also
Brown Falcon, Merri Creek, Rushwood Drive, Campbellfield (Deb

25/8/03 - At least 2 fantail cuckoos calling throughout
the day from far (e-side = Craigieburn Grassland Reserve) side of the
creek - Merri Creek, Rushwood Drive, Campbellfield - very persistant

25/8/03 (~5.30pm) - 4 YTBC feeding ~30m north of Harding
St Footbridge, Merri Ck Path, Coburg, 2 in Radiata Pines next to the Market
Garden, 2 in a senescent Green Wattle ("Early" Black Wattle - a NSW sp). These
were within a few meters of the path, just above head height. ( Brian

Atriplex and Wallaby Grass at base of wetland, Merri Park Wetland,

1/7/03 - 1 YTBC calling from black/silver wattle on far
side of creek, Hall Reserve Remnant, Clifton Hill (Brian
Bainbridge)
1/7/03 - 3-4 Yellow thornbills feeding in Silver Wattles,
Hall Reserve Remnant, Clifton Hill (Brian Bainbridge)
2/7/03 - 1 Great Egret standing instream. Broadhurst
Reservoir.....etc...
