Hi Birders,
I did a sea watch off Norah Head for an hour today 1300-1400 hrs as the conditions looked good as there was a strong southerly wind blowing, which is a bit of change from the more regular westerlies of late. However there was not much to see. In that hour 14 Australasian Gannets (12A+2 Immatures) mostly flew north, 60+ Fluttering Shearwaters were feeding not far off shore, 20+ Wedge-tailed Shearwaters passed all heading south in twos and threes, only one Albatross was seen, a lone Shy Albatross, 5+ White-fronted Terns were feeding just off the rocks and the usual Crested Terns and Silver Gulls were present. On the rocks at Soldiers Point were 34 Red-necked Stints, 3 Pacific Golden Plovers, 1 Gfrey-tailed Tattler, 1 Sooty Oystercatcher, 8 Turnstones and alone Double-banded Plover in breeding plumage. Great, Little Black and Little Pied Cormorants completed the list of birds.
