G'day,

Spent the morning at Rosegums Retreat looking for the bowers of the Satin Bowerbirds.

While I saw many of these birds the only ones I saw calling were females/immatures which were calling from trees. At one time I saw four birds in the one tree where they were not feeding.

Saw some interesting country and heaps of great birds including all the local scrubwrens except for the fernwren which is in a different genus anyway.

One mixed feeding flock included 3 Yellow-breasted Boatbill, 2 Pied Monarch, 1 Grey Whistler, 1 spectacled Monarch and one Bowers Shrike-thrush. Some Brown Gerygones joined the flock for a short time but moved off with Large-billed Scrubwrens when they came past.

Other birds included Fig Parrots now mostly in pairs ( a bit early ), 5 spp pigeon, 3 spp cuckoo-shrike, 3 spp robin and 6 spp honeyeater. Musky Rat-kangaroo, Red-legged Pademelon and Boyd's Forest Dragon rounded out a wonderful morning even if the objective was not met.

Regards,
Alan
