Yes indeed they can be quite tame. I had one land on my shoulder while bushwalking in the Mistake Range west of Brisbane a few years ago. It was wandering up the old forestry track I was standing on, flew over to a nearby branch to have a captain cook and then decided that my
shoulder would make a good perch.

Yes Brown Cuckoo-doves can be very tame at times. Some time ago I was filming one at Dharug NP (on the outskirts of Sydney) on video. I was able to get so close that I was almost able to give it a nice pat on the back (its head filled the whole TV screen). What frightened it
though was when a mob of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos flew over and it
then moved off.
