I have always found the major difficulty, when experiencing this most
common
phenomenon, is how to focus and hold the binoculars steady in one hand -
because the other hand is fully occupied!!!

Bob Cook
Bob,
Who needs binoculars?  I was once "in the act" in Kalpowar State Forest when a male Paradise Riflebird flew down and hopped around the base of a kauri pine no more than 2 metres away!  The best most liesurely view I've ever had.  And I felt so relieved afterwards!
Andrew
