Congratulations for protecting their nesting Bald Eagles to
the people of Camden, Maine from someone who used to live in
Camden, London, England.
I'm not a firework hater, just a hater of inappropriate
displays and the people currently selling them to the youth
around here... There is a growing campaign, with which my
group is involved, to control them (the fireworks - youth
must have its day).
But I do not know of any Australian environmental guidance.
The USA Fisheries and Wildlife Service have issued
Guidelines for Managing Fireworks in the Vicinity of Piping
Plovers and Seabeach Amaranth on the U.S. Atlantic Coast
http://pipingplover.fws.gov/fireworks.html
This cites the effects on this endangered species and
nesting Least Terns and the side effects of crowds trampling
on endangered plants.
We have similar concerns about our birds, lizards and
littoral plants.
