Hi Dick,
      Thanks and I would suggest you could well be correct. Good lateral
thinking on the females.
ie:      the birds that I was assuming to be a female yellow chat are most
likely to be Yellow Throated Scrubwrens. This is a bird that I haven't
stumbled across in 20 yrs. (Due to life distractions from Birding and
inexperience) and although the group of birds were in the same area, they
didn't seen to be a social group, Just in the same area.

Meaning the (so called) male is a different species and I'm still working
on that one.
I hope to be back there next week & if lucky, I'll get enough info to
identify the supposed yellow chat. Although of similar size to the
scrubwrens the colouration (if that is a word) was quite distinctive.

Hi Simon

Could the birds have been Yellow throated Scrubwrens ? Not sure of the
habitat you saw them in but the yellow throat would fit in .
