I can't comment on Sydney, but for Qld (mainly the SE) based on two
extensive garden bird surveys, 20 years apart,
(see Sunbird 32:37-51, 2002)
Pied Currawongs have certainly increased
1979/80 1999/2000
% frequency by site 27 44
% frequency by record 8 18
mean nos. (incl 0s) 0.29 0.47
I have no data but I doubt if there has been a great increase
in Camphor Laurels in Brisbane over that time.
Also, continuing Carol's comments on increases in
Sulphur-crested Cockatoos in the Blue Mountians.
They have also greatly increased in SE Qld gardens
from 9% in 79/80 to 41% in 99/2000.
