Guide was knowledgeable of the area? Then the guide should have known better
than approaching to within 4 feet of birds that
are (at least in NSW) listed as Endangered via the Threatened Species
Conservation Act, and presumably have a similar rating
in Queensland.

Wasn't 20 feet close enough? Wasn't 12 feet close enough? Why persist in
getting so close and perhaps running the risk of
annoying the birds so that they move away entirely? I think the guide's action
was irresponsible.

Cheers

The tour consisted of
travel to Eurambula National Park by Lark ( for those that don't know a Lark
is a type of amphibious vehicle ). The guide being very knowledgable of the
area delighted them by taking them to within 4 feet of a pair of Beach Stone-
curlews.
