Last Saturday morn produced a few unusual species for my block, (possibly stopping en route for migration). A pair of Crested Shrike-Tit, a small group of Varied Sittella and a few female Flame Robins.

I have lived here for near on two years and all three species are a new, if albeit temporary addition to my house birdlist!.

Hi Mark

This is the 3rd copy of this e-mail I've received, so I thought it time to respond.

Though the Flame Robins might be altitudinal migrants from further up the hill somewhere, the Crested Shrike-tits and Varied Sittellas are the kind of thing I'd expect to see in almost any forest/woodland type in this part of Victoria.  I don't think either of the latter two are known to migrate.
