In a recent addition of the London Times there was an article about an
Atlantic Puffin Fratercula arctica, that was re-caught by ornithologists.
When it was first caught in 1957 it was thought to have been at least six
years old, which makes the bird 52 years old. In that time it is reckoned
that it has flown at least 8 million kilometres. It is without a doubt the
oldest wild bird in the UK, but is it the oldest in the world? does anyone
know of any species that can beat it??

All the best,
