Lake Lorne has to be about the most accessible place for seeing Freckled Duck
in this state. There have been 50 or more FD here for some months. Last
Monday I could only find a handful, but didn't search more than about 1/3 of
There are usually plenty of different duck species at this spot, and I wasn't
(sorry, not in order)
also plenty of Coot, DMoorhen and PSwamphen, HH Grebe, and lots of SN/AW Ibis.
Couldn't find any spoonbills, Musk Duck or Hardheads on this visit. Another
nice sighting was a Swamp Harrier sitting on the shore and eating something
substantial - kept it busy for 20 minutes or more. It's yellow legs were very
bright in the sun!
