Paul,

I own a pair of 8x42 APEX Vixens and have found them excellent, really
easy to look through and sharp as well. They are nitrogen filled
waterproof rubber armoured roof prism models. Quite a few people have
commented favourably after looking through them. I'd suggest you check
to see if you can get the 8x ones instead, unless you're a fan of 10x
binos. They are every bit the equal of the equivalent Nikons, they
retail for around $1000 these days. I don't know what Zeiss-Jenas are
like, presumably not a match for Zeiss which go for $2000 plus in this
size range.

There are 3-4 Vixen binos that come in the 8/10 x 42 size range, so you
need to find which model they are offering you. Others may not be up to
the quality of the Apex models. The APEX have a 10 year warranty on
them.

If you want to try them Bintel in York street Sydney stock them.

regards,

Chris Ross
