Hi all,
A belated birding report on my voyage from Macquarie Island to Hobart.
Nothing out of the ordinary but reasonable diversity and good numbers of the
usual suspects. On all days the sea was only slight to moderate on a 2-3 m
swell.

29 March 03 departed Macquarie at around 14:00 and heading NNW at around
13.5 knots till dusk recorded: Light-mantled Sooty Albatross 8, Grey-headed
Albatross 5, Black-browed Albatross 2, Wandering Albatross 1, Shy Albatross
(steadi/cauta) 3, White-headed Petrel 40, Mottled Petrel 4, Antarctic Prion
5, Slender-billed Prion 1, Northern Giant Petrel 2, Southern Giant Petrel 1
, Giant Petrel spp 5, Short-tailed Shearwater 1, Sooty Shearwater 12,
Diving-petrel spp 2, Macquarie Island Shag 15, Antarctic Tern 6.

30 March 03 from 50 59.9' S 155 12.9' E at 0800 to 48 30.0' S 152 50.0' E at
1800 recorded: Light-mantled Sooty Albatross 1, Black-browed Albatross 3,
Wandering Albatross 10, White-chinned Petrel 2 ,Grey Petrel 1, White-headed
Petrel 15, Mottled Petrel 5 ,Gould's Petrel 9, Black-bellied Storm-petrel
12, Prion spp 13, Northern Giant Petrel 1, Giant Petrel spp 1, Little
Shearwater 2 (both dark faced), Short-tailed Shearwater 25, Sooty Shearwater
6, Diving-petrel spp 2

31 March 03 from 46 16.32'S 150 24.21'E at 0800 to 44 56.5'S 149 00.6'E at
1700 recorded: Sooty Albatross 1, Buller's Albatross 1, Grey-headed
Albatross 1, Black-browed Albatross 4, Salvin's Albatross 1, Wandering
Albatross 15, Shy Albatross (steadi/cauta) 5, White-chinned Petrel 8,
White-headed Petrel 14, Mottled Petrel 2, Gould's Petrel 14, Great-winged
Petrel 6, Fairy Prion 6, Prion spp. 80,  Little Shearwater 6 (4 dark faced,
2 pale faced birds), Short-tailed Shearwater 580, Sooty Shearwater 4,
Diving-petrel spp 3, Black-bellied Storm-petrel 6, White-faced Storm-petrel
4, Wilson's Storm-petrel 1.  Also 3 cetaceans that I am now satisfied were
Southern Bottle-nosed Whales.

We docked in Hobart at around 7 am on 1 April.
