This morning at about 9.45am a flock of about 50 Yellow- tailed Black
Cockatoos flew over Balmoral Beach ( Mosman, Sydney) from the direction of
the Spit towards the zoo. They flew in groups of 3-8 birds following each
other (could these be family groups ?). The flock was observed in between
rain showers.
Several days ago there was a report of a large flock flying in other parts
of Sydney. Sorry, but I deleted the message and couldn't retrieve it from
the Archives prior to writing this message, so can't refer to it, other than
to mention that a large flock of YTBC is flying around Sydney.
Last Thursday, at the same time, under similar drizzling conditions I saw 3
Yellow- tailed Black Cockatoos flying over the same location and in the same
direction.
At Balmoral Oval, there is a resident White-faced Heron and a pair of
Kookaburras, and a flock of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos, which are seen there
throughout the year.
