Hi all On Sunday, at Lake Delamere (c. 150 km south-west of Katherine, NT), I saw 250 Straw-necked Ibis, most of which were immature. While not in the 000's this seems a significant number in one group for the region. The lake was only at about 10% capacity, which is its limit now for the year as the rains have come to a close. The entire region down there seems very dry, so perhaps the birds were forced to the lake if it's the only significant water body around at the moment. Cheers Niven __________________________________ Birds of Darwin, Kakadu & the Top End: http://www.users.bigpond.com/birdsnt Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
