Look up the birding-aus archive for the article I sent last year on the key birds of the south west. Also check my web site for areas such as Cue and Exmouth. For the other species :
Fitzgerald River bridge on Highway 1 about 35km east of Jerramungup. Also along Quiss Road leading into the Fitzgerald River bridge.
See article above. But Quiss Road is now a good area. Stop at the fee paying station for the Fitzgerald River NP and listen for them calling. I recently saw two and heard three others.
See Thomas & Thomas book for Nullarbor Roadhouse in SA.
Fairly common in Millstream NP in the Pilbara. Probably fairly common in much of the Pilbara.
Very easy at Monkey Mia car park.
Supposedly very near the Newman caravan park. Used to be near Tom Price caravan park until the area was burnt. Basically look for scree slopes with heavy spinifex cover. This habitat can also have Rufous-crowned Emu-wren and Spinifexbird.
Wave Rock near Hyden. Mulga country. Pilbara.
Common at Lake Austin south of Cue. Common near Carnarvon wharf. Common in samphire near New Beach south of Carnarvon.
New Beach south of Carnarvon and north.
New Beach south of Carnarvon. Lake Annean south of Meekatharra. Near Nullarbor Roadhouse in SA.
Cue. Very common near Exmouth.
