Hi Birders,
While carrying out my seasonal
surveys of bush birds for Wyong Shire(NSW Central Coast) this week I noted an
upsurge in the number of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters and Spotted Pardalotes. Can
anyone say whether the migration of the Honeyeaters through the ACT and the Blue
Mountains got underway? I have always assumed that the movement was from the
alpine eucalyptus forest of Victoria and southern NSW to coastal NSW north of
Sydney and to the inland woodlands. In view of the vast amount of Alpine forests
burnt out this summer, are there many honeyeaters left to migrate? Have the
usual known routes been burnt out?
