Hello All and Alan,

Yes I would certainly pass on your comments about the need to have hides at
all, and yes, I would agree that control of ferals, weeds is as important
as any other management measure. Everything that is being done at this
particular site is being done with the needs of fauna upmost in mind. From
my perspective, having bird watched in England over the years, weather and
disturbance are the main reasons for having a hide. At some places I have
been to, a hide has been useful in focussing people away from inching ever
closer to the feeding birds and in some cases, disturbing nesting on a
beach.
But you are right, it may be that one may not be warranted in this case,
time will tell.
Meanwhile in Upotipotpon, the birds are busy, Purple-crowned Lorikeets are
around, a Square-tailed Kite and several Black Honeyeaters have been seen
in the area. The Grey Box has started flowering so we are keeping our eyes
out.

Cheers

Debbie
