Hi birding-ausers,

Thankyou all for your response to my ID problem with a  Nepalese bird my friend was keen to identify.  ( A picture which is on the birding-aus website. )
From all the responses I can say it was a Snow Partridge and most probably a female or juvenile bird due to the dull beak colour. The male has a red beak .
The picture was scanned from a colur slide which my friend had taken back in 1984.  He is 'stoked' to finally find out what the bird is.
He is very impressed at the information that can be gleaned from a birding list like ours.
Cheers,
Peter.
