MessageDear all

Looking for a good way to spend the weekend after Easter?

The Australian Bird Study Association will hold its a Scientific Day
surrounding its AGM on the 26th April at Gluepot.

The proceedings will begin on Saturday 26 April at 0930hrs with a cuppa. A
range of interesting speakers have been secured who will present updates on
their research in Gluepot's brand-new Visitor Information Centre. Speakers
begin at 10.00am till approx 3.30pm. There will be lunch between 12 and 1.

List of confirmed speakers:

1.. Duncan Mackenzie - Welcome and the Management of Gluepot
  2.. David Baker-Gabb - Reason for Gluepot
3.. Michael Hyde- Vegetation on Gluepot
  4.. Mike Clarke - Black-eared Miner recovery
5.. Rhidian Harrington - Effect to birds on closing of watering points
6.. Richard Donaghey - Study of nesting Robins etc. on Gluepot
7.. Darren Baldyga- Bird - Vegetation association
8.. Kevin Smith- Regent Parrot surveys
Afternoon tea will be at 3:30pm followed by the ABSA AGM. Subsequently
attendees will have the opportunity for a guided inspection of Gluepot
buildings and amenities for researchers and rangers, or they can choose to
set up camp.

At 6.30pm the ABSSA Annual Dinner will be held. This time of year the calm
autumn evenings are ideal for informal post-dinner drinks and mingling with
fellow birders and researchers.

The next day, Sunday 27 April attendees have the opportunity to join Richard
Donaghey who has kindly agreed to take a group out banding Southern
Scrub-robins, or Wally Klau who will try to catch Striated Grasswrens. Or if
you'd rather go birdwatching this time of year is ideal.

IMPORTANT - REGISTRATION AND COSTS:
Conference registration $25.00 per person. This includes lunch, morning and
afternoon tea.
Conference dinner is $20.00 per person.
Sunday banding, cuppa and packed lunch $15.00 per person
Registration before 12th April earlier if possible so that catering can be
arranged.
