Despite the blustery wind and many dual locked
gates, we enjoyed a day at Werribee TF today. Whilst we missed out on Red Knots,
Godwits, Ruddy Turnstones,Whiskered Terns and the Golden Plovers which we
would have loved to see, it was great to see 5 Blue Winged Parrots along
the Beach Road - they then fed in the middle of the track giving us great
views.
The Pied Cormorants collecting nesting material to
build in the paperbark type trees were quite amusing, as were the antics of what
we thought were 3 juvenile darters stretching their long necks to tussle
one another, precariously balanced only a metre or so above the
water.
What a great place, and so much can be seen from
the warmth of the car!!
