this morning I had to get up early for work, how early...well the flying foxes were still fighting over the Red Bloodwood blossom in my backyard. Anyway while forcing my eyes open and trousers on, I heard a call that caught my attention. A female Powerful owl was calling from somewhere downslope of my house in Lapstone (lower blue mountains, 60 km west of Sydney).
It almost made it worth being up at 05:30.
Nearly gave Michael Hunter a call to see if he could hear the bird....
