Dear John,

The Bush Administration is launching its most blatant attack on clean water to date. For over 30 years, the Clean Water Act has been a cornerstone of U.S. environmental law that has protected vital waters of the USA. Now the Administration has kicked off a new rule-making process that could eliminate the Clean Water Act and therefore protection for millions of acres of wetlands, creeks, streams and small ponds and therefore the defence of migratory wild birds will be gone.

This would open these environmentally crucial waters to damage and destruction from numerous activities such as development and mining. Please respond to this alert today to let the White House Council on Environmental Quality know that you expect them to continue applying CWA protections to ALL U.S. waters and urge them to stop the new rule-making process. You can take action on this alert either via the web at:

ide flood control, serving as habitat for fish and wildlife, filtering pollutants from the waters of thee USA and supporting the USA economy. These waters are vital natural resources that require the ongoing protection of the CWA. For 30 years these waters have been safeguarded waters, and I am appalled that you are now attempting to exclude them from the jurisdiction of the CWA.

I strongly urge this Administration to immediately cease all of its attempts to rewrite the law that protects them. You as a nation cannot afford to lose any of these valuable natural resources and therefore you cannot retract the
jurisdiction of the CWA that protects them.

Thank you for considering my views.

Sincerely,
John Gamblin, Australia.
