This Australia Day morning saw an early start to beat the heat at Eastlakes
Golf Course in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

The Yellow Wagtail was briefly present on its favoured pond (630-650) but
disappeared and could not be relocated over the next couple of hours. A male
Little Bittern was seen well in flight from the Reservoir wall before it
dived into the Cumbungi. Finally two Freckled Ducks including a male with a
hint of red at the bill base were present on the pond closest to Wentworth
Avenue.

Other good birds were Striated Heron, Spotted Crake, Japanese Snipe,
Sharp-tailed Sandpiper and Horsfield's Bronze Cuckoo.
