Where does Casmerodius fit in?? I'd only ever seen Egretta or Ardea, also alba, not albus. Is this the same species? Also you are not talking about orders as such.

Like most of you know the common name is not really what matters,it is the scientific order that is important.
For example the New Zealanders call the Great Egret (Casmerodius albus) the White Heron.
But we take no notice and still call it the Great Egret .
The Feral Pigeon sometimes called the rock dove or rock pigeon But we still know it is in the familly Columbidae and is The Feral Pigeon.
 
So the difference between doves and pigeons is an irrelevant question and with a bit of thought it can be answered quite easily.
