Dear aussers

Visited to Woko National Park on Monday 30 December - walked into the Rainforest walk and almost immediately came across a pair of Spectacled Monarchs building a nest.

This was in a fork in a sapling about 3 metres from the ground, and built from the fresh green mossy lichens that were hanging from the branches of trees all around, and decorated with bits of white lichen. The birds were busily collecting spider web, darting into the nest and rubbing beaks around the rim while pressing breasts against the nest walls to form the correct shape. They paid little attention to us - both birds were collecting material so I presume they were both building the nest.

Happy New Year to all on the net
