This message from this afternoon - sorry for the delay but I've been away
from my computer:

At approx. 1.00 pm, 17 Dec. an elephant seal [presumably the same
individual as before] came ashore and
is resting on the Sorrento foreshore, east of the main
jetty. Last report at 4.00 was it is still there. Over one
hundred school children are also using the beach. Several
volunteers are hoping to watch over the seal this evening.
Temporary signage may be used to keep public and dogs at a
distance. The seal appears to be in good health.

Cheers,

Simon.
