Hi everyone,

Went to Kerang and environs over the weekend, the highlight being a quick
trip out to
Hirds Swamp. Undoubtedly the best bird was Orange Chat (thanks, Simon Starr
& Birdline).

After much searching (and seeing stacks of White-fronted Chats), I finally
found a
small flock of about 6-8 Orange Chats at the Northern end of Hirds Swamp -
very impressive
bird.

Although incredibly dry up there, about 70 spp. were recorded on Saturday.

An unusual (for Kerang) sighting was Blue-faced Honeyeater (in a town
street).
I haven't seen one in Kerang over the past 10 years or so. Has anyone else
recorded them up there recently (eg. Chris Coleborn?)

Cheers
Greg Oakley
