Hello Dion and all, Thanks, Dion, for the confirmation of the Albatross ID. Single birds can be a bit of a trap at times! Dion said: "Hi all, the photograph Rob is referring to is an adult Chatham Island Albatross not an immature Shy Albatross as it is labelled. It was a single bird that returned to Albatross Island off Tasmania several years in a row mingling with the nesting Shy Albatross. Thats what I heard anyway. The photo is on page 126 of the 1986 Photographic Idex of Australian Birds- Seabirds volume. The mystery albatross photographed by Brent Stephenson off Kaikoura looks like fresh adult Salvin's Albatross to me. Cheers Dion" Cheers Bob Inglis Woody Point Queensland Australia Birding-Aus is on the Web at www.shc.melb.catholic.edu.au/home/birding/index.html To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message "unsubscribe birding-aus" (no quotes, no Subject line) to |
