Having just taken notice of comments re books, I was wondering what peoples
opinion of :

A field guide to Australian birds, vol 1 & 2, P Slater 1970

would be.

ie., Is it too very outdated? I have had both of these since new and they
have seen many a 4WD glove compartment. I still use them and hope my
taxonomic names arent too far out. I love these books, and hate having to
update books all the time, at least once a century should be more than
enough :-).
